Events and Celebrations
WRCA is a community of residents, staff and families. We love to celebrate life’s big moments, with plenty of social events for participants who like to join us. We begin each new year with a dinner celebration in the Banksia Room for all to welcome new self-care and hostel residents.
To celebrate milestone anniversaries of WRCA’s 1970 foundation year, WRCA holds a Fete and Village Open Day with the local community. Throughout the year we hold regular Resident Information Sessions, where WRCA’s Board meet with all residents to discuss recent village and hostel news, followed by light refreshments while continuing to socialise together.
Together we celebrate Easter, ANZAC Day on our Flagpole Lawn, Christmas in July, the Melbourne Cup, Remembrance Day, Christmas and New Year holidays and more, with each event a great opportunity for residents to come together.
Regular barbecues are held on the Banksia Deck and where a table tennis game can also be enjoyed. Self-care residents also organise and promote their own social events in their ‘Independent Living’ Monthly Magazine – yoga classes, art classes, scrabble meetings and happy hours.
Hostel-organised activities and social get-togethers occur daily and are advertised in the Monthly Hostel Newsletter – here a just a few examples:
Whether it’s a WRCA sponsored social event, a fete, an art show or providing a private party venue for our residents and their families at WRCA, the Board, Staff and Residents love entertaining and welcome any excuse to celebrate!
